Three New Bunny Valentines Cards

I designed a set of three bunny Valentines cards from my miniature paintings and have them offered for sale on Etsy and ArtFire. I took apart several of my minis and then recombined them to create the bevy of bunnies!

Fun With An Ivy Border

As you may know, I finished my latest little painting Tuesday. It is the border design for our children's book:"Duncans Magic Garden". It's an 8"x10" mixed media - India ink, colored pencil, and watercolor painting. For the finished book project I will add images of the characters inside this ornate border, but I just couldn't help trying it out on some of my older miniatures! So, here is a collection of cute critters, printed on 8.5"x11" Archival paper with Archival ink using Master Duncan's border design (I know he wouldn't mind)!

For now I've added one of my other bunny paintings to give you a sense of how this will all look together.

New Art Project Done!

The Pocket Gallery

A revolving iPhone pocket gallery of my miniature paintings that will change weekly!

About a month ago I was invited to lunch by my new Twitter friend, Dave Carpenter, who also lives in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts. Over lunch Dave and I were talking about my art (which is predominately ACEOs-miniatures 3.5” x 2.5”). Suddenly his eyes lit up and he said, “an iPhone app!” Of course, these little paintings would be just perfect for viewing on an iPhone. So I hurried home and contacted my brother, Matthew Revenaugh, who is a computer programer (TheSoftWareMan), and before we knew it, a great little iPhone App was born. Just click on the logo above and save to your iPhone.

Now your favorite ACEO's can travel with you, a quick pick me up as you navigate your day! If you want to preview the App., or you don’t have an iPhone, you can view it in the Safari browser, just remember to scale down your page to about the size of an iPhone. In FireFox you can use this iPhone Simulator. Add the App link to the mock iPhone and hit enter, although it will not look its best in this browser. Can not be previewed in Internet Explorer.

I am working together with my brother Matthew Revenaugh who is a computer programmer. This is going to be so much fun, I know you'll love it. We hope to unveil our little art surprise on Twitter Monday, and to all you non-Twitter-ers Tuesday of next week. Stay tuned!

Finally Back To Duncan's Magic garden!

(above is the overall layout a month or so ago)

(click on the thumbnail below right for a nice close look and remember to use your magnifying tool as well)

After a whole month away from this project, I am finally back to work on the new children's book, "Duncan's Magic Garden". This is an 8"x10" mixed media - India ink, colored pencil, and watercolor, on smooth illustration board. The image to the right is a close up of the piece so far, the final painting will include this ornate border and will frame our leading man, er...bunny. My plan is to have a half dozen very ornate borders, then 25 additional illustrations representing the story. Each smaller illustration will fit inside the various borders. Having worked in the (ACEO) format (2.5" by 3.5") for the last five years, so adjusting to a dimension three times larger requires some getting used to, but I am getting the hang of it.

Duncan and his bunny clan are also known as the "Fabbitz"(as in the Fabulous Rabbits) Below is Duncan Alexander at his birthday bash with the Fabbitz clan.

Duncan's portrait was done as a miniature painting, also known as an (ACEO) and was part of a Triptych. A Triptych is three small paintings, each unique in itself, but when laid side by side also make up a lager composition.

Little Mouse Bookmark

(Click on the bookmark to enlarge)

Tonight I designed a new bookmark from my little miniature painting. I love snuggling on the couch in the evening, cat in my lap, dog curled up beside me, laptop open and dismantling my little paintings in a graphics program to re-create them as a bookmark! Thanks so much to my friend: blackcatcraft on Twitter who suggested the cute quote which works so perfectly with this bookmark.

$4.99 I'll offer it here from my blog as well as on Etsy and ArtFire.

Four New Bookmark Designs

Over the last few weeks I have designed a handful of fun little bookmarks from my miniature paintings. Thanks to all my friends on Twitter who have helped me with ideas and inspiration for these little works of art.

You can buy the Warbler bookmark here
or here.

For my bookmarks I use a few graphics programs in which I digitally dismantle my own original art and then reassemble it in this bookmark format. Each bookmark is signed and dated. The bookmarks measure 2.25 inches by 7 inches and have a heavy protective plastic sleeve that measures 2.5 inches by 7 inches with an extra 1.5 inch area from which to hang a favorite tassel. The bookmarks are printed from my Epson printer with Archival Ink on Archival Paper with a Matte finish.

Each image can be enlarged by clicking on it.

You can buy the Sparrow bookmark here or

You can buy the Cottontail bookmark here or
